Leather Care

 Smulekoff's wants you to get the most from your leather investment.  Below you will find some basic leather care instructions provided by the Guardsman line of furniture care products.

Do not place your furniture too close to a radiator or a similar source of heat.  Make sure that there is a minimum of two feet between your furniture and your heat source.

Protect your leather furniture from direct sunlight.

Keep the leather free from dust particles by dusting with a clean soft cloth... preferably once a week.

Clean leather preferably once a month if the furniture is used daily, but at least four times a year.  Do not rub!  Sponge gently until all grime and stains are absorbed.  Never use soaps, saddle soaps, oils, all purpose cleaners or solvents.  Use of these products could damage the finish.  Always refer to the manufacturer's care instructions and pre-test any cleaners on a hidden area to make sure the products do not have an adverse effect on the leather.

If a spill occurs, wipe it up immediately.  Use a mild dishwashing solution to remove the spill if necessary.  Once again common cleaning materials and chemicals can cause severe damage and costly repairs and void any warranties on your leather products.  Always pre-test even the mildest of dishwashing solutions on a hidden area.
